March Madness!

Sorry about my serious lack of posts. It's been a fairly busy few weeks so I thought I'd check in and share a quick snapshot of what's been going on.

We've been working away on our MintSix website and hoping it will be all go by tomorrow. We're super excited to get started and can't wait to see what you guys think of our products. A great time was had last Friday at our Art & Design evening with Gallery De Novo and we are stoked with the great response from locals, who came to celebrate the launch of our business with us.

The MintSix & Gallery De Novo Exhibition runs until April the 3rd, so head on down to the gallery if you are in the area and check it out.

My husband and I had an awesome time in Byron Bay a couple of weeks ago and the ultimate highlight was of course witnessing our friends get married and catching up with so many old mates. I love this pic, how classic is their nephew Cooper's face...brilliant.

Byron Bay is an awesome spot and even though it's been many years since I was last there it's basically still the same chilled out place.

Getting our shopping home, Byron style...
Spell & the Gypsy Collective lived up to the hype, with an amazing selection of bohemian goodness. The shop decor was also very cool and this 3D lace skull went straight to the top of my wishlist. These weren't available to purchase in store but with a little digging I tracked them down. These are available to purchase here

This awesome old collectors yard below, was full of so many gorgeous old things. It was like torture as there were so many cool pieces but there was no way I could buy anything due to my measely luggage allowance...

A week without children in tow allowed for some solitary shopping action which is one of my all time favourite things to do, especially in Sydney. A quick round up of some of the things I either purchased, nearly purchased or simply admired from afar for both myself & the girls (I had to massively rein myself in!!)
French Connection Arrow Belt

Cameo Underwater Sequin Trousers
(These are very high waisted and
unfortunately looked ridiculous on me,
but were amazing on the rack. I do love a sequin.

Byron Bay Beauty

“The builders hoped we’d remove the poinciana tree when they were installing the pool, but we insisted they work around it,” Kimberly says. “The canopy of summer flowers makes it worth the effort.”

I was flicking through some old magazines last night and came across an old January 2011 copy of Inside Out. On the cover is an awesome picture of a mama watching her two boys swim in their gorgeous looking pool. Stephen Eakin and Kimberly Amos renovated a home just metres from one of the many pristine beaches in Byron Bay, on the NSW North Coast.

After reading it again last night, I got even more excited about my impending trip to Byron tomorrow for a friend's wedding. Whoop! Hopefully, I'll get a little time to do some house stalking in the area as it's full of amazing homes and of course a spot of retail therapy is definitely on the cards, with this shop being one of my first stops.

How cool is the skate ramp in their backyard?!

The Amos/Eakin family on their front porch.
This caravan was purchased by Kimberley and Stephen in California and is now a guest house in the backyard. Love it.

Black on Black

We love colour obviously, (hello the majority of our MintSix products!) but we're also seriously obsessed with black. Who isn't though, right?

Black favourites from MintSix

1. Standard Black Juju Hat: $650 2. Set of five Lotus Bowls: $150 3. B&W Moroccan Pouffe: $199 4.Black Macrame Wall Hanger: $250 5. B&W Skinny Zig-Zag Cushion: $59.95
I simply had to include two collages of this incredibly stylish lady, Christine Centenera. In my humble opinion, no one does black better than her.

Christine is the Senior Fashion Editor of Australian Vogue and she never seems to put a foot wrong in the fashion department. You can check out more pics of Christine on her blog for Vogue here
Oh, how I would love to delve into her shoe wardrobe, and the rest of her closet of course! She's always wearing an incredible pair of shoes.

Love the diamond lights by Eric Therner and the black peacock chair is amazing, I've been trying to track one down for a while now but have had no luck thus far getting one that is in good condition and doesn't cost a fortune.

Since I started using washi tape quite a while ago (seen in the above pic in stripes and spots) I simply can't get enough of it. I have used it for so many things, from disguising ugly lighting cords, around the edge of picture frames, to mark out hopscotch for my kiddies on the floor and of course for sticking all sorts of things onto my walls. It is removable and doesn't leave marks, so it's fantastic if you are renting or if you're just like me and move stuff around A-LOT! In New Zealand you can purchase some here or try Etsy which has a great range in a variety of colours and designs.

I have almost purchased these Acne Pistol boots so many times. It's quite ridiculous that I still don't own them after scouring the internet for the best deal for three years in a row! I do however own many similar pairs that have been at least half the price if not even less. I will however always covet 'the real deal' so maybe this year I will actually get them further than the 'cart'. Purchase here

Hope you enjoyed my 'black' pics for this week's post. Have a great weekend! Talia x
