Juju Hats are Back In Stock!

We absolutely love when we get to update items on our website to 'back in stock'. Some of the products we sell at MintSix come from some far flung places, so when the courier driver finally pulls up outside he thinks we're slightly luney tunes when we try and give him a cuddle and jump up and down with excitement!

Standard Fuchsia Juju Hat Click to buy!

On Tuesday, our courier driver did the speediest drive by we've ever seen (this was probably due to the fact that he was well over being accosted by us!) and delivered boxes full of our beloved Juju Hats.

Small TangerineStandard Cobalt Blue & Small Teal Juju Hats in stock.

Standard Natural Juju Hat. Click to buy!

It's always a good time unpacking Juju's in the MintSix office. Ella and I have been known to spend a good half an hour discussing which one we would like (it's different every time!) and then wax lyrical about how good it will look in our respective kitchen/bedroom/hallway/living room etc etc.

Massive photo shoot at my place over the last few days. Some of the shots are better than others as I'm still trying to get a handle on my photography skills. In other words, please excuse the dodgy ones!

Standard Juju hat in Red (pre-order only)

It is the first time we have stocked baby Juju Hats and they are pretty cool little numbers. Versatile due to their size, they can be hung amongst a picture gallery or placed above a vignette on a sideboard. And of course, at $239 they are a more affordable option if a standard Juju isn't in your budget but you still want some feathery goodness on your wall!

Ankle Boot Round Up

Lucy from one of my favourite fashion blogs, Fashion Me Now,
is sporting an awesome pair of leopard ankle boots from UK shoe store
Dune.

Ankle boots are a staple for me through all seasons. I wear them with anything and everything. Now that it's getting colder they are on even higher rotation, so I thought it best I get another pair.

1. Windsor Smith - Las Vegas 159.95 AUD
(Delivery to NZ for $35 AUD)
2. Witchery - Sienna $299.00 NZD
(Sold out online but available in selected stores)
3. Senso - Qimat $275 AUD (Free Shipping)
4. Senso - Quay  $275 AUD (Free Shipping)
5. Solsana - Nic $275 NZD (Free Shipping in NZ)
6. Topshop - Adrienne Stud $150 NZD approx
(Delivery to NZ for approx $17 NZD)
7. Tony Bianco - Roach $172.68 AUD (Free shipping)

Here is a round up of boots that have caught my attention. Was thinking the Windsor Smith 'Las Vegas' boots were the front runners until my husband suggested they may not be the most practical option for a Kiwi winter due to the 'hole' in them! Pretty much wishing I didn't show him now...

Love these Jeffrey Campbell 'Everly' Perforated Cut Out Boots as seen on Jules Sarinana from the blog Sincerely, Jules.

These cool kicks are by Friend of Mine and retail for $398 AUD. These little numbers are a bit pricey, but worth a mention nonetheless.

An alternative leopard boot option without the price tag by Number One Shoes. And at just 49.99 they're a bargain.

Senso Boots are incredible. These two pairs below are my faves at the mo but the entire range is awesome & quite frankly I'd be happy with any!

If you would like to spend under $100, this basic flat ankle boot is super reasonable at $46 NZD with free shipping.
New Look Coconut Simple Boot from Asos $46.23 NZD
These silver beauties are by Minty Meets Munt. They are a combination of suede at the back and a faux croc skin metallic front. $219 NZD at Superette

What do you think? Any that take your fancy?

The Fabulous Fiddle Leaf Fig

It is beginning to get a bit chilly at this time of year in New Zealand and we've definitely started spending more time indoors. We love being surrounded by plants and have enjoyed hanging out in our new garden over the last few months. Now our attention has turned to bringing some of the outdoors, in.

Giving away all of our plants when we moved from overseas last year was quite torturous! I knew we'd have to start all over again & it's amazing how attached I'd become to my plants.

I've always loved to decorate with indoor plants and use them everywhere from the kitchen to the kids rooms.

After we moved into our new home, I became fixated on getting a big plant for my hallway. My white floorboards & walls were crying out for some greenery and I began to seek inspiration on the Internet,in mags and started trawling through the local nurseries.

I kept seeing one particularly striking and large plant online, over and over again. It didn't take me long to realise that this particular plant was the one I was going to track down, even if it killed me! (Which btw, it nearly did!) Not quite as prolific in the nurseries down here in the South Island as I'd hoped!

Yip, if ever there was such a thing as a 'cool' plant this would be it. The Ficus Lyrata or Fiddle Leaf Fig,(as it's more commonly known) has been getting some pretty good coverage online and it seems to pop up in stylish interior spaces everywhere you look.

So, I'm happy to say that my plant search is over. I too joined the indoor plant 'cool club' and got myself a Fiddle Leaf Fig. I took the pic above on my phone yesterday after I plonked it behind a couple of others. Today I'm off to find a pot. Wish me luck!

Hope you glean some inspiration from these pics as I have. I'm hoping mine may eventually do some crazy sideways growing like this one above. How awesome is it?!

MintSix Media & Pouffe Giveaway

Our MintSix Mother's Day Pouffe Giveaway has a winner...
Congratulations to Kirsty Mackenzie! E-mail us at hello@mintsix.com and we will get your new Black & White Pouffe  to you asap!

It's safe to say that both Ella and I spend a fair amount of time on our i-phones and laptops, or as my husband likes to refer to it - 'your best friend'. Yip, he's super funny like that :)

Anyhow, my laptop may not be my best friend, but it's definitely up there in the top five! On any given day, I am updating our website, returning & writing emails, posting to Facebook, creating a blog post, seeking inspiration on Pinterest, researching furniture & homewares options or curating mood boards for clients.

Here's a little snapshot of what we've been pinning on Pinterest, posting on Instagram and seeing in the press.

1. This was taken in the 'Weekend Trader' in Auckland. How amazing are both of these lights?! This is the only shot I posted to Insta, but I could have gone on and on posting as the whole shop was drop-dead amazing. If you haven't been and you are in the area (Ponsonby Road), it's a must visit.

2. Ella and I posing amongst some of our MintSix wares for a write up in the Otago Daily Times Newspaper. You can read the article by clicking on the link.

3. A selection of our lovely ceramics.
Our Tangerine 'Pop Silk' got a lovely mention in Shop Til You Drop's, Little Book of Online Shopping. Senior Editor, Kate Fitzpatrick has just purchased one of these beauties so we are a teeny bit excited about that!

We have a new little kitten in our family and most mornings he joins me whilst I'm checking my emails & having a cup of tea. He's super cute and just a little bit crazy, so he fits in brilliantly in our household!

MintSix is about to embark on the planning and organising of another wedding, so I will be pinning up a storm of wedding pics quite regularly from here on in. How amazing are the layers of ruffles on the dress above and this headpiece in her perfectly relaxed 'do'? Also Jodi Gordon stuns here in this incredible J'Aton bridal gown late last year.
